Tax question Empty Tax question

Post by Mags Thu Apr 14, 2011 5:49 pm

I know unemployment is taxable, but if it was my only income and it was less than five thousand, do I have to even file? I was told by my ex boyfriend who does taxes that I didn't, but as always I wait until the last minute and stress over it. I don't need the IRS after me too! I'm not sure if he was correct. Anyone? I know if you are single and make less than a certain amount you don't have to file, but not sure about unemployment income in regard to this.

I am not qualified to give tax advice, but if I were, I would say that you do not have to file. Go to the IRS website, and you can easily confirm this.

Thanks so much, truth. I was looking around last night for info online but just got confused, so I thought I would ask here. Thanks again.
