Without it , federal extended benefits would have run out this month

About 12,000 unemployed South Carolinians will continue receiving
federal extended benefits through December because of a change in the
law allowing those benefits.The
amendment to the act extended a comparison of unemployment rates from
two years ago to three years ago. Without that change, those recipients
would have dropped out of the program this month.
