Re: Missouri State Lawmakers Saying 'No' To Federal Money For Jobless Benefits
Michigan is next:
n Michigan, House Speaker Jase Bolger (R) hasn't made up his mind whether to support accepting the federal funds, according to spokesman Ari Adler. "He is sympathetic to the unemployed who would lose their benefits," Adler said. "On the other hand, you would have businesses facing having to pay for the extension."
The Michigan Chamber of Commerce is lobbying against the benefits legislation, which it says "will result in a tax increase on Michigan job providers and more government debt."

Re: Missouri State Lawmakers Saying 'No' To Federal Money For Jobless Benefits
Last time I counted it was NINE states that have not accepted the Feds money for (EB).
Louisiana Gov bobby Jindal made it clear prior to the extensions passing, when the state had an unemployment rate of 8.5%, that Louisiana would not be accepting the money. When asked by a WDSU reporter what advice he had for the unemployed in La. Gov Jindal suggested they "Get a Job."
Gov Haley Barbour of Mississippi with an unemployment rate just under 11% has also declined the feds money for EB. Haley Barbour plans to run for President.
These politicians have no regard for the unemployed, both are relatively poor states and pay the lowest unemployment in the nation.
I fear this is becoming an accepted trend.
