American Jobs Act and Bill HR 589
For all who are pushing for HR 589, you should start contacting your congressional contacts because I don't see it being included in the current American Jobs Act. I am hoping this is not the final version and that it can be amended to add more weeks or tiers.
AMERICAN JOBS ACT
Title III – Assistance for the Unemployed and Pathways Back to Work
Subtitle A – Supporting Unemployed Workers
Section 301 – Short Title. This section provides that this subtitle may be cited as the “Supporting Unemployed Workers Act of 2011”.
Part I - Extension of Emergency Unemployment Compensation and Certain Extended Benefits Provisions, and Establishment of Self-Employment Assistance Program
This part provides for the extension of emergency unemployment compensation and certain extended benefits and establishes the self-employment assistance program.
Section 311 – Extension of Emergency Unemployment Compensation Program. This section generally provides for the extension of emergency unemployment compensation benefits. Subsection (a) would extend the emergency unemployment compensation (EUC) program for individuals to enter the program (upon exhaustion of regular unemployment compensation (UC) payments) by one year to January 3, 2013. It also would extend the transition period so individuals would be permitted to continue to receive amounts remaining in their EUC accounts until June 8, 2013. Subsection (b) would continue general revenue funding of EUC benefits and related administrative costs. Subsection (c) would provide that the amendments made by this section take effect as if included in the enactment of the Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2010...

To my understanding there is MORE to this America's JOB PLAN that President Obama is towning around the country. There is nothing aimed at the LONG-TERM 99ers jobless for 1/2+ years but my understanding from my Senator's office his staffer (not Intern) said they have been receiving calls about the unemployed who aren't receiving HR 4213 and the Senator is working with the President blah blah blah! Same of rhetoric bull but at least he's getting calls and faxes. I and many others have been using the free fax www.faxzero.com because you don't need a fax machine to use the services. This is a election in 2012 and I'm not voting republican or tea party but if DNC wants us then they sure as hell better offer some type of incentive program specifically for those that have been jobless longer than 1-2 years because they know we haven't stop looking, that the b.s. excuse they use to make the conscience clear!

Agreed !!!! If both Parties can't do, or won't do something to address the concerns of the "real" long-term Unemployed-aka 99ers-then I may have no choice but to vote Third Party in the 2012 Election.

I don't see a 3rd party in time for the 2012 Presidential election and I sure don't want another George W. Bush shoved down our throats as we saw in 2000. President Obama let it be known he's a regular politician just like the rest of them but he has done some good things as well, more so than any Republican would have done especially with the extension of UI benefits for 59 weeks in the Stimulus package.
