Problem with Bar-B-Q
Last night I threw some steaks on our Kenmore Sear & Grill propane Bar-B-Q. Had to finish them in the broiler because the bar-b-q wasn't getting hot enough. Same thing happened last time we tried to bar-b-q but we thought we were low on propane. We filled up the propane tank but that didn't do the trick.
The burners are working but I would think not at full capacity. Is this an easy and safe problem to solve?

How old is it, and when was the last time a new burner was installed. Over time, rust builds up which won't allow fuel to the entire burner. Change that and clean the two orifices that the burner connects to, and you should be good to go. (Very easy to do yourself) Could be the regulator too, but I kinda doubt it, unless it was laying in a muddy location, and had gotten clogged with junk.

Thanks for the quick reply. Like everything else around here it is old. I guess the parts would be available through Sears. I was hoping that maybe I could just blow out the lines with compressed air.knarf wrote:How old is it, and when was the last time a new burner was installed. Re: Problem with Bar-B-Q
Sears parts are very common and can be bought just about anyplace that sells BBQ's. Couple of things you need to know.
Length
Width
What type burner. Straight, or H (looks like a big H)
Single or double burner.
I pull mine apart every year to give it a good cleaning. The grease build up causes it to trap moisture, which in turn rots the burner out.

Re: Problem with Bar-B-Q
Another problem solved thanks to the DAWU forum. Bar-Q-Q is working now. Took the burners out and cleaned them plus gave it a good general cleaning. Yesterday it barely got to 300 degrees and today it got over 650 in a matter of minutes.
Thanks knarf
