New Jobs Headed to Waynesboro
Gov. Bob McDonnell announced
Monday that an electronic manufacturing service is moving operations to
Solutions Place in Waynesboro.
According to the city, one of the reasons PPI/Time Zero chose to bring 65 new jobs to Waynesboro was because of the work force.
Waynesboro has a strong history of manufacturing, and
though the high tech electronic manufacturing is somewhat new to the
city, city officials say it could become a new niche.
With a work force accustomed to manufacturing jobs and Blue Ridge Community College
opening a Tech Center to train students in high tech manufacturing,
officials say Waynesboro is a prime location for businesses like
PPI/Time Zero.
"Manufacturing today is not necessarily what it was
30 and 40 years ago, but it will put us in a place to attract additional
companies like this and get our workers trained in multiple disciplines
which will improve their marketability to other companies," says
Economic Development Direct Greg Hitchin.
